Shri Kshetra Khandoba Malegaon Yatra

Shree Kshetra Khandoba Devasthan is situated in the Malegaon, Loha taluka of Nanded district. The Khandoba Devasthan is well known for Malegaon Yatra (Malegaon Fair / माळेगाव यात्रा).

The devasthan is one thousand-year-old hemadpanthi style of architecture. Malegaon Yatra is held every year in honour of Lord Khandoba. The Malegaon Yatra festival starts 2 days before and 3 days after Margish Amavasya (Comes in December-January).

The 150 years old Malegaon yatra is biggest rural yatra in south India and second biggest animal fair in the country after Rajasthan's Pushkar Mela. Actual fair is held for 5 days, but the trading of animals market is run for a month. The fairs animal market include horses, donkeys, camels, Devani, and lalakandhari bulls, cows, and dogs, chicken also. Horses of all the breeds like Marwari, Kathiawari, Sindhi, Bhutani and Thorough Bred come in this fair for buying and selling.

Programs and events perform in the annual fair like Horse shows, Dog Shows, Cattle Shows, Cultural Events like Dramas, Acts and Folk Dances. Visitors from all over the world comes to experience the annual fair of Malegaon.
